A pitch as a transfer of conviction.
I work a lot in pitches, from getting employees to buy into what’s next, startups seeking investment, to agencies wanting more business.
I help guide, I help shape, I coach.
For some it’s an opportunity, a platform to perform, to advance, they love it.
For others, it’s almost a dirty word, all they see is pressure, what they feel is pain.
The difference looks like one of personality and ambition.
But it is really one of understanding and definition.
When you strip it back, all a pitch is, is a conversation, that leads to a conversion.
A transfer of confidence, of belief, of conviction from one person to another.
‘This is what I believe, I’d like you to feel this way too’.
The danger is to focus on the what and how and forget about the who.
For people to buy what you are selling, they first need to buy into you.
P.s. it looks a bit like this … :)
