It is rarely because something is wrong.
It is usually because something is complicated, confusing or doesn’t feel quite right.
It isn’t the answer, but is it often a path to the answer.
In fact, done well it should help you find the answers yourself.
It should stimulate deep reflection, pushing you to step in and outside of yourself.
It should question assumptions, in who you are and who you want to become.
It’s perspectives to see things differently, it is a way to see things anew.
It’s the bridge between exploiting what you currently are, what you currently do and exploring what you could be and could be doing.
It is the opposite of weakness, it is the confidence to know you might need another view.
In the right hands it can turn a transition into a transformation, a challenge into a win.
It can be enlightening when things are fine but you feel something is missing.
It can be instructive when things are good, but you feel like you might be missing something.
It’s helpful at the beginning, when considering your direction.
It’s powerful in the middle, when many things have been achieved, lots of boxes ticked but when we ask: what’s next?
It’s revealing later on when approaching retirement and not sure where that energy and expertise should go.
It doesn’t take much, but it can change lot.
I have yet to see someone not come out of it with a better sense of themselves, and a clearer sense of what’s to be done.
I have yet to find someone who doesn’t feel the investment was worth it.
It is trust, it is clarity, it is partnership.
It is worth it.
